About

45 years as an empirical economist allowed me to observe, analyse and study economics on the move up and down. I have exchanged views with academics, civil servants and policy makers on macroeconomics and structural issues and I am still eager to understand what makes an economy work and what could be done to make it work better.

I am extremely grateful to my four main employers: 1) the Vienna University of Technology for my academic education 2) the Institute for Advanced Studies for a very successful crash course on the management of higher education institutions, 3) the Central European University for the insight about deep systemic transitions and 4) the OECD Economics Department for learning what better policies for better lives means. As Head of Division Andreas Wörgötter supervised about 80 Economic Surveys and Assessments for 17 Countries (Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Germany, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Russia, Slovakia, South Africa, Sweden, Turkey, Ukraine). In this function he had the privilege to engage in high level policy dialogues with government leaders, social partners and private sector managers.

Now that I am free from the obligations of an  international civil servant, I want to continue with academic research projects and consulting activities contributing to evidence based policy making. Andreas Wörgötter is open for win-win partnerships in applied, empirical and policy relevant economics, from Tallinn to Cape Town and Brussels to Vladivostok, exploring macro-structural interactions, as well as regional-federal relations.
